Being rejected and low self esteem seem to go hand in hand. When you have been rejected, regardless of the circumstances, it is always hurtful. The rejection and the emotions that go with it, can cause low self esteem and loneliness.
Low self esteem should be addressed immediately. The longer you let low self esteem go, the worse it can get. The solution is to put the rejection and the hurtful feelings behind us and move forward to repair the damage it has caused. People can be very unkind and many times don’t realize the pain they have inflicted on others with their actions and words. Their hurtful words can cause low self esteem and damage our self worth and self confidence.
People with low self confidence tend to avoid social situations, and this low self esteem can lead to loneliness and self doubt.
In order to boost our self esteem, it is necessary to change the way we think about ourselves. Self esteem, is after all, only the feelings we have about ourselves. We must stop all of our negative self talk and replace it with positive affirmations.
Work on a few positive affirmations (such as – “I am a happy, successful person” or “I am very popular and have lots of friends”) that you think will help boost your self esteem. Repeat these affirmations frequently throughout the day and whenever you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, replace them with a positive affirmation.
