I finally decided on one of their suggestions and when it came in the mail I was excited. However, the actual sword was underwhelming at best. It felt cheap, had loose fittings, and certainly was not functional.
After a lot of research I figured out that in order to be considered functional, a sword must be made of carbon steel, and also properly heat treated, and put together with a full tang.
Many real swords can be bought from custom sword makers, but they’re rather expensive. A great place to buy an affordable sword is SwordWares.com. They sell real swords at good prices, and unlike MANY sword stores online, they indicate the stock status of their products.
